Introducing our all new jewelry Collection from the New Hope Center in Goma, Congo
These light-weight beads are a unique representation of both the struggles and the hopes of children growing up in Eastern Congo.
The New Hope Center works with children and teens in Eastern Congo who are grieving the death of a loved one. The Center provides a safe place where they can share their experiences and find support, hope and healing. As part of their after-school program children are often invited to express their experiences through drawings. Some of the children then choose to turn those drawings into the light weight paper beads and string them together to make the beautiful, one-of-a-kind necklaces and earings you see here.
This is an after-school art project that the children participate in on a volunteer basis. 100% of the profit from this jewelry will go to a school fee fund for children at the New Hope Center. In the Eastern part of DR Congo, only 40% of the children have a chance to go to school because the parent/caregiver often can’t afford to pay school fees. These necklaces are a beautiful way to support the children of Congo and their dreams for a better life.
Length: Approximately 28 in.
